Transfiguration Theological Seminary was birthed in September 2015 through the vision of Mount Hermon Baptist Church’s current Senior Pastor, Bishop H. Clemon Smith, II who felt led of the Lord to establish a new institution for Christian theological education that would not only meet the needs of the members and leaders who fellowship at Mount Hermon but also be available to members of the body of Christ at large with a specific focus on the Philadelphia metropolitan region. The foundational principles that support TTS’s vision as an entity for Christian theological education include:
a. Encouraging a hunger and thirst for dynamic teaching of the unadulterated word of God that serves as a catalyst for transforming believers into disciples.
b. Providing biblically based Christian theological education in a manner of excellence where students are able to receive recognized degrees for completion of their selected course of study.
c. Make sound Christian theological education available via vehicles that are affordable and accessible to all students who have the desire and requisite commitment to mature in their relationship with Christ.
Purpose Statement – It is our hope that TTS will:
a. Become a model of Christian theological education whose heart and overall focus are aligned with Christ’s mandate for all believers found in Matthew 28:19-20 via an integrated model that meets the needs of all members of Christ’s church.
b. Be established as a viable accredited Christian Theological Seminary that will promote scripturally based teaching which directly fosters the development of true disciples for Christ that will be both accessible and affordable to any believer.
